Swords like the Valbrand Long Viking Sword were not only weapons of war, they were statements of a warrior’s prowess. Take this sword for example, a great choice for warriors who wish to immerse themselves in the age of the Vikings.
Craftsmanship Inspired by the Vikings
Forged by hand from Mytholon, this Viking sword takes its inspiration from the blades that defined an era of conquest and exploration. This sword is forged from spring steel, boasting a full tang and blunted edges specifically for stage combat and theatrical productions. Spring steel means this sword is forged from steel that has higher amounts of carbon, giving it a higher level of elasticity and resilience. Having a full tang means the metal blade extends into the handle as one piece, giving the weapon strength and balance.
The double-edged, unsharpened blade has a wide fuller down the forte and a distal taper. The fuller removes excess weight from the blade without compromising its strength or integrity, and as a result, it pushes material toward the edges to reinforce it. Having a distal taper means the blade is wider at the base before gradually narrowing toward the tip. At the end, the tip is round for added safety. Please note this sword is handmade, meaning it may vary slightly in color and shape. Keep in mind that any minor notches along the blade are not defects in the combat sword’s design, but are the result of resistance testing.
Further down, the short, curved guard is reminiscent of Viking sword designs. The handle is wrapped in braided leather for a secure grip and a unique, rustic texture. This handle accommodates a one-handed grip, leaving your other hand free to hold a shield or another weapon. At the bottom, the three-lobed pommel is also inspired by historical Viking swords.
