If you are wanting to make a unique piece of gear or clothing accessory for a reenactment, check out the Novgorod Brass Belt Decorations. Made from brass, these decorations include a buckle and a piece to cover the tongue of a belt. The tongue of a belt is the end opposite the buckle. The buckle features a miter-shaped head. The sides of the buckle form a point in one direction and then curved inwards on the other side. They then flare back out slightly to create a rounded end on the opposite side of the point. In the middle where the sides narrow in, there is a hole. The buckles pin sits on the bar created by this hole.
Meanwhile, the tongue piece has straight sides that form a rounded point at one end. Inspired by Viking-Age pieces, a scrolled pattern adorns both pieces. Create your own Viking or medieval belt with the Novgorod Brass Belt Decorations. They are great for any DIY project.
