Embody the martial presence of a true knight wearing these Durant Steel Spaulders. Good shoulder armour lends medieval charm to your kit and makes you stand out from the crowd. These spaulders, inspired by fantasy, promise to deliver on that medieval look.
Forged by Mytholon
These spaulders, sold as a pair, are inspired by the wings of legendary dragons merging with the gothic designs of late medieval European knight armour. Forged from 18 gauge mild steel, these Mytholon dragon spaulders are capable of standing up to intense LARP combat. This armour is also coated in oil to protect from rust. Typically, spaulders are smaller versions of shoulder armour designed to cover the shoulder while limiting your movement as little as possible. Whether you’re a medieval knight armouring up for battle or are an adventurer from the realms of fantasy looking for armour, these spaulders have you covered.
At the top, the larger piece known as the gardbrace is shaped like a dragon’s wing with a fluted style reminiscent of gothic armour meant to cover the front, back, and the top of the shoulders. In front of the cop is an embossed lozenge for added detail. Below the lozenge is the octagonal besagew, also known as the rondel. The besagew is a small, round disk meant to protect the armpit. This besagew is embossed with a fluted sunburst for gothic plate armour-inspired detail. When worn, it is intended to cover the front of the armpit.
The smaller piece below the gardbrace is called the rerebrace, covering the upper arms. Designed as four distinct angled layers, the rerebrace is riveted to the cop at three points. These three points lead into leather straps down the length of the rerebrace for a degree of articulation. There are two adjustable straps on these Mytholon dragon spaulders. One at the top is for securing to your gorget or cuirass at different elevations. The other, located at the bottom rerebrace, is for securing around your arm. It is recommended to buckle the straps tight when placed on arming wear, as gravity will want to pull the spaulders down your arm and securing them with a snug fit will help them stay in place.
