Forged from 18 gauge mild steel, this bascinet helmet has a design inspired by authentic 14th Century European helmets. It’s perfect for epic LARP combat and costuming. The conical, pointed skull is the focal point of the design. It shares the same skull as many bascinets throughout feudal European history. Please note this helmet comes coated in oil to protect it from rust.

Attached to the skull is a nasal guard called the bretache. This historical nose guard is linked to the chainmail aventail at the bottom and tapers to a round end at the top. The top hooks onto the helmet mount, giving your nose great protection without sacrificing visibility. The bretache can be raised or lowered depending on your preference. Three perforated holes at the bottom of the nose guard also add some breathability to the helmet.

The chainmail aventail wraps around the entire neck and hangs over the upper chest when worn. Leather edging lines the sides of the face on this open face bascinet and wrap around the back of the neck and is reinforced with steel bands. The chinstrap, also made of leather, is looped through these bands. The chainmail is attached to this leather edging. Just like historical designs, these round rings are butted together in a 4-in-1 design. Each ring is 9 millimeters in diameter, perfect for intense mock battles.

Inside the helmet is foam and cloth padding. This ensures your head is well protected. The foam and cloth padding also makes wearing this helmet easy and comfortable.

• This armour will arrive to you covered in protective oil. While this oil can be removed, it must be replaced with another protective maintenance product to protect your steel armour from rusting. Occasional oiling is necessary for the proper maintenance of this armour. When storing this armour, protect it from oxidation by coating it with machine oil.
